We are very fortunate to have someone as talented as Catherine O’Donnell in our community. I have 3 dogs, one who suffers from severe anxiety and ocd, and Catherine has worked with all 3 of them. Her understanding of behavior and why a dog responds and reacts to things is uncanny and a true gift. She is able to get the best out of each dog, boosting their confidence and helping them to succeed. And she genuinely LOVES her job – you can see that when she works with them – she brings such joy and enthusiasm to each session – and the dogs sense that and respond to it. I also love that Catherine will explain (in layman’s terms) why your dog is doing certain things and what they are trying to communicate to us. She approaches each situation calmy and with a clear head. She is honest and forthright and is invested in each of her clients as if it were her own dog. I am so pleased to know Catherine and to have her in my dogs’ lives. She has changed my relationship with my dogs, she has given me hope for my ocd dog, who many would have discarded because of his behavioral issues. She makes learning fun for the dogs and for their people and is a rare jewel that we are blessed to have!

Fletcher and I have been training with Catherine for 2.5 years. Our experiences have been wonderful! Catherine is an exceptional trainer who creates a class environment that promotes success and fun for you and your dog in a beautiful hill country environment. Having the rally skills under our belt has been a huge boost for both of us. I would highly recommend Catherine to all who are interested in furthering their relationship with their dog in a positive, fun and challenging way!

At Oliver Animal Hospital we have a very special family member named “Underdog” who has been living with us for the last 3.5 years. He was deathly ill with an intestinal blockage when he first came to us. His owners declined all veterinary care and wanted to take him home to die. As a veterinarian I could not bear that idea. I decided to keep him. After a very long and difficult surgery to repair his intestines and weeks of nursing care he survived. He has such a strong spirit and will to live. I had a very difficult time trusting anyone but myself and staff to take care of him as his previous life was less than acceptable. Underdog lived outside his entire life and had no real social skills and was unreliable with certain people. We felt that he may never find a home until we met Catherine O’Donnell. She has committed so much of her time and expertise to train him as well as training my staff. Underdog has turned yet another corner in his life thanks to Catherine. He has a new found since of confidence and happiness. Though we are sad to see him leave, my staff and I know that Underdog is now ready to fly to a loving home. Thank you Catherine for loving and believing in Underdog as much as we did

Finding myself, a senior citizen, with a high energy Doberman Pinscher was daunting, frustrating and overwhelming. When I was at wit’s end, Catherine entered my life. Her unending knowledge, patience and kindness helped me to bond with my Czarina and start to have a special and balanced relationship that I needed and desired. We have taken several group classes and workshops, each providing more knowledge and confidence, while maintaining a weekly schedule at The Ranch’s indoor training facility. The safety and protectiveness, both physically and emotionally, for the dog is extremely apparent in everything Catherine does. She is helping me toward having a healthy companion dog while retaining my dogs sweet nature. Awesome combination!

I have personally seen Catherine O’Donnell in action evaluating and assessing behavior in dogs under some very difficult circumstances. As part of the American Rottweiler Club’s Disaster Committee team dealing with the “Texas 200” rescue of over 200 Rottweilers, I witnessed Catherine’s participation in evaluating dozens of Rottweilers under the most difficult of conditions. These dogs were taken out of their familiar surroundings and placed in a large group housing area. Catherine led one of the teams involved in assessing these animals for purposes of health, placement, and need for additional evaluation and/or training. Her calm demeanor and knowledge of the subtle signs used in evaluating temperament were invaluable in making correct assessment of the individual animals handled and/or placed. Many of the dogs involved were frightened, nervous, lacked socialization, and as a result in some cases difficult to deal with. None of this deterred Catherine and her evaluation process resulting in fast and effective evaluation of these dogs . Having known Catherine now for several years and seeing her at other events, I have no hesitation in recommending her and her abilities when it comes to working with behavior issues in dogs and/or basic/advanced training in animals with no specific behavior issues. I do not make such recommendations frequently and without great thought. I have no reservation in giving a big “thumbs up” to Catherine and her abilities.

Rebel and I have been blessed…We have trained with Catherine for the past three years. She constantly encourages us so that we may achieve our full potential. She is always supportive while sharing her training and behavior expertise. She always knows exactly what to say so that we work together as a team. She is compassionate about her work and it is evident in everything she does. I would never have the confidence in me and in Rebel without her guidance and support. Catherine is the BEST and she has helped us to ‘be all we CAN be’. From the bottom of my heart…Thank you.

Catherine’s love for dogs is obvious in her teaching style. She is very positive with the dogs and with the owners. Catherine trains so that the dog WANTS to learn. She is patient with the dogs and with the owners, too. I really love that she shares her insight into dog behavior so that I understand the training techniques from my dog’s point of view. My rescue dog has some fear-based aggression towards other dogs. Catherine has been able to help me understand some of his behaviors. She has given us some techniques that help my dog stay calmer when encountering another dog. That helps me help my dog when these situations arise. Catherine Rocks!

When I decided to adopt my Shepherd/Collie mix puppy from the local shelter, I had no idea that he would become an uncontrollable, 55lb Tasmanian Devil! I honestly thought I would lose my mind. Then, Catherine came to our rescue. She taught both of us (dog and owner) how to work together in a respectful, caring, rewarding and loving way to get the results we needed. Today, my high drive/high energy dog couldn’t be more loving, compassionate, happy and obedient.

I’ve been training with Catherine O’Donnell for 2+ years, it has been a wonderful experience for all of us. Catherine’s positive approach to training created a fun and playful atmosphere that was equally disciplined and structured. My dogs gained confidence and skill from their training and we continually work with the tools Catherine gave us, turning every opportunity into a training opportunity. As a result, I gained confidence and control of my dogs allowing me to feel comfortable taking them to public places, ultimately enriching the quality of our lives together. Thank you Catherine for believing in Atticus, Violet, and me.

Catherine taught me about canine behavior and how to communicate with my dogs on their level, instead of applying my human reasonings to training. Catherine gave me the formula to integrate a new dog into my already 2 adult dog household, it worked! No fights, no problems, now the two males are best buddies! The follow up conversations we had over the phone changed my life from a dog training standpoint, I am so much more dog savvy now!
